Sallie Pullman, is a financial services attorney licensed to practice in Washington, DC, with a wide range of experience in consumer and mortgage lending and servicing issues, regulatory compliance, and bank and non-bank partnerships. Sallie previously worked as the Director of Compliance at a TIAA Bank f/k/a EverBank, covering mortgage servicing, mortgage origination, consumer lending, and commercial lending and leasing. In this role, she developed compliance oversight programs, managed regulatory exam issues, identified and operationalized new legal and regulatory requirements, and executed an annual compliance plan. She also developed regulatory policies and procedures, reviewed and revised disclosures, and conducted vendor oversight, including initial due diligence reviews. Sallie advised business partners about compliance issues related to the Dodd-Frank Act, RESPA, TILA, SCRA, EFTA, HPA, FCRA, FDCPA, UDAP/UDAAP, and other federal and state regulatory requirements. She also served as a member of the bank’s Fair and Responsible Practices Committee, Sales Practices Committee, and Compliance Risk Management Committee.
Prior to becoming a Director of Compliance, Sallie was Associate General Counsel for SunTrust Bank where she covered mortgage servicing issues and litigation management. In this role, she assisted with the development of operational processes and procedures to comply with new regulatory requirements arising out of the Dodd-Frank Act and certain Consent Orders, including assisting with the development of a state and federal regulatory inventory. She also managed litigation against the bank and assisted with complaint resolution.
Sallie started her legal career as an associate at Goodwin Procter, a Global 200 and AmLaw 200 law firm, in Washington, DC. During her time at Goodwin Procter, Sallie focused on complex, financial services litigation and emerging, regulatory issues related to mortgage lending and servicing. Sallie’s practice included representing large financial institutions in putative class actions arising under RESPA, TILA, EFTA, RICO, UDAAP, reinsurance, and other federal and state laws regarding mortgage and consumer lending.
Sallie graduated cum laude from American University, Washington College of Law, where she served on the American University Law Review and as a teaching assistant for Legal Writing and Rhetoric. She was awarded the Casto-Southard Award in Constitutional Law and traveled to Hong Kong for a semester of study in comparative law. Before attending law school, Sallie earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD, and Santa Fe, NM.
